Well, one of the hurdles for my interest (or lack of) for flying down under has been eliminated.
Quantas has added Internet to their Airbus 380 service between Sydney, Melbourne and Los Angeles initially, then rolling it out more widely. Quantas joins Emirites and Lufthansa which are both also deploying technology that let's passengers surf the web, check email and use IM.
One drawback–no Skype. But that likely applies to Skype calling, not chatting (something the SKYPE PR folks should take aim at and point out) as you can still use the app to IM, send files and provide status updates usually from the air.
