LifeSize which is part of the Logitech family of video conferencing services and products is about to get a big boost with a certification from Microsoft's OCS platform. Their LifeSize HD video products will be qualified to be interoperable with Microsoft Office Communications Server for Unified Communications video calling within the enterprise and between one another's endpoints.
What this means is if you have a LifeSize system you'll be able to connect to Windows PCs that are connected to an OCS server and those on an OCS network will be able to reach a LifeSize user or conference facility.
My experience with LifeSize has been mixed. It's certainly not as easy to use as Skype or its own Logitech sister company, SightSpeed, and as Skype keeps moving upstream with Video the value proposition of a room based system has to be questioned. What needs to occur is the interoperability between SightSpeed and Lifesize should be front burner. That would provide a far more attractive 1-2 punch
