A Top Flight Rose from Provence-Chateau Saint Rosaline Lampe de Medus 2016

When I think of Provence Rose I think pale pink color and layers of strawberries on the nose. That’s what the 2016 Château Saint Rosaline Lampe de Medus is like. And to boot it’s crisp and dry.

As far as what's in the wine, I nailed two of grapes on first taste and guessed that there was possibly some Tibouren so I was three out of seven in reality, It's made up of the first suspected Grenache and Cinsault, but it has more. Research tells me it's made up of Cinsaut : 35 %, Grenache : 35 %, Rolle 10 %, Syrah 7 %, Mourvèdre 7 %, Semillon : 4%, Tibouren 6 % all of which is permitted in the Cotes de Provence. The salmon color Rose is made in a traditional style, and I really found it to be something nice with the Phuket (aka Andy) Wings…..

Beyond the strawberry and white peach flavors you also taste some fresh spring flowers, herbs de provence and without a doubt some pink grapefruit. It's a fun wine to drink with friends and the bottle is very cool! In style, as it is referred to as the Jellyfish Lamp.

Why did I like this? Unlike the darker Tavel Rose wines that scream FOOD, the Saint Rosaline Lampe de Medus is still in the serious vein, but you can drink it while you wait on food. It's got great body, solid fruit and has a very clean and appealing finish.
