Will Verizon Sanction Jeff for Mashing Up EvDO and SlingBox

Jeff Pulver and I both are unabashed supporters of using Verizon’s Broadband Access, their so called unlimited wireless Internet access service. I think Rich Tehrani is too. Now I’m reading how in Verizon’s contract they have the right to stop users from downloading, uploading, streaming, making VoIP calls, P2P file sharing and just about anything … Read more

AOL and Vonage At Odds

Jonathan Berr of TheStreet.com has a story about some Vonage customers having trouble using the broadband phone service over AOL Broadband. My guess is the modem is the cause. What would be interesting to see is if AOL’s Total Talk or any other VoIP service works at those locations.

More M&A’s Coming?

Looks like the M&A efforts will continue if Light Reading is on the money with one. But my sources say it’s more of a OEM or reseller deal. I met with the leadership of Sylantro that was at VON and found very little “new” that they would say with the company so maybe a shakeup … Read more

The Vonage DeadPool

My Thoughts on The Vonage IPO

Many will look at the first day performance of the VONAGE public offering as an indictment for VoIP overall. That’s not fair, nor is it accurate. FCC on Net Neutrality

Net Neutrality is way more than just about access and I’m seeing more and more the global cabal like interests of politics, economics, finance and technology converging.

CounterPath Doing Well

The company formally known as Xten is doing well according to today’s SEC filings. Congrats to Mark Bruk and his team, including poker playing buddy Clay who despite not being a blogger seems to run into me a lot at conferences.

Applause For Sonus

Sonus has gotten high marks I hear from an upcoming report crafted by Infonetics that’s all about the “Service Provider Next Generation Voice and IMS Equipment Market Forecast.” The Infonetics report named Sonus the market leader in a few categories including the worldwide trunk media gateway segment where they hold 16% of the total market … Read more
