The investors in Fonality should be laughing all the way to the bank. This story about Nortel is a classic example of great reporting and lousy PR. Congrats to Tom Keating for making such a spectacle out of Nortel.

Dear Jeff, As much as I want to be in Stockholm for VON Europe, I just can’t be. You see, between all the work, other non-VoIP conferences and something called my WEDDING this summer, travel to Europe until end of June is clearly has put me on the sidelines. That said, the rest of the … Read more
I have to admit, the Del Mar Marriott is in my hood and at times has been one of the best examples of broadband in a hotel I’ve ever had. You see I dine regularly at their award winning restaurant, Arterra, and the broadband has been amazing enough to have a SightSpeed video call. But … Read more

That got me thinking, after … Read more
I have to give credit to WiredPlanet (now the Rhapsody player from Real) founder Thomas Hale for finding this mic so Ken Rutkowski and I can have better sounding World Technology Roundup when we’re traveling the world over. It is called the Blue Snowball and it works great, complete with awesome noise and echo canceling. … Read more
Knowing your broadband speed is very helpful too, as well as the ability to use VoIP. I tend to use two speed tests, as I believe that using the same reference test sites makes it easier to determine just what kind of experience you will have: Cox Speed Test can be found at http://test.lvcm.com/ Visualware’s … Read more
When I travel I always pack either my Linksys or Asus travel router. The Linksys is a tad easier, but the Asus offers more options (with added Ethernet ports-four compared to the one on the Linksys). Having one of these makes it possible to SHARE your connection with a traveling companion, in my case, my … Read more
