Robertson, SingTel Disrupt The World

Michael Robertson is known for being the disruptor. He did it first with MP3.com, has named a Linux operating system LINDOWS and now with his SIPphone service he’s gotten engaged to SingTel to deliver PSTN termination, ANYWHERE in the world.

The Internet makes the world a very small place, and SingTel, with its massive reach and advanced SIP network architecture is now the first carrier to really become a global delivery vehicle.

One great thing about SIPphone has been free calls to International Cell phones. Given the calling party pays billing system, Robertson recently and quietyly trialed the service with SingTel in countries they had termination with, as in Australia. The service worked without a hitch, other than some router issues with users, a problem which has likely been fixed by now.

If anyone can challenge the PTT’s it’s Robertson. I wonder now how the EU nations will feel about Microsoft once their state owned phone companies’ revenues starts declining due to the disruptor!

Here’s the Reuters story as well.
