Forbes used Voice over Wi-Fi as a way to tell a different story about VoIP. Smart.
What it also told in the story is that the carriers are really grasping the idea that VoIP is for real and that most of the national carriers in the USA (i.e. Qwest, AT&T and MCI) now are embracing the idea. Considering how slow their uptake was on DSL compared to the cable companies were on deploying broadband, you would have to think they learned their lesson.
Expect the spin to be something like, “the market wasn’t ready then, but its ready now.”
