VoIP To Grow In Europe?

Forrester Research has noted that VoIP [voice over IP] will overtake standard phones globally by 2007, with Europe not far behind, according to a report originating within the pages of Computer Reseller News.

The key here is all the people they spoke to are either enterprise data managers or companies that sell to them. As such, what you read is clearly skewed in the direction of the enterprise.

The inetersting statistic that I’ve yet to see are number about households intending to go VoIP in Europe, or more importantly, how many ex-pats are in Europe or the UK with Vonage, Packet8 or another VoIP SIP player. My guess is there’s a nice chunk of ex-pats with always on broadband in the UK, who have roots, family or locals who just do a lot of USA based business who found a way to get a telephone adapter and are billed to a credit card, because like IP, a credit card knows know boundries.
