When The USA Is A Local Call

Planet Zivva, an Atlanta based company has developed a Calling Party Pays (CPP) program with a twist.

Basically they will assign you a number in a foriegn country, you then map it to a number in the USA, where it rings. For what is as little as $29.99 (or free in the UK during the trial period) it means friends, family and business associates will be able to call their relatives and associates in the USA.

While Planet Zivva seems to be targeting Eastern Europe and Europe today, I see an even bigger market for them in Latin America, especially of they can market to the nomads from Mexico who reside in California, Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. It will also be a boon to Indian outsource companies which have to call their USA customers.

This is a good use of VoIP technology, from a business that I suspect has more to offer. There are too many other technologies coming along that will make this idea which is cost effective today, unnecessary tomorrow.
