DT Going VoIP Route

Deutsche Telekom has changed course and is now clearly going the VoIP way. I’m not at all surprised in light of the fact that since 1999 they have been working with softswitch vendors to build the final solution for telephony. James Enck has the scoop and a viewpoint worth noting.

One by one we are seeing the Euro telco’s going VoIP as part of a larger strategy, that being the national triple play of voice, data and video. We are also seeing telephony imperialism as companies cross borders and make inroads into their neighboring lands. We keep seeing the manifestation of the global telco. It is no longer an if, but a when for many of the companies which have the cash to expand outside their homeland.
