AT&T Makes AT&T CallVantage Service ‘Family Friendly’

In what I call the most feature oriented advancement by a VoIP company, AT&T’s CallVantage has rolled out a bunch of new features that are available today.

While some other VoIP and Unified Messaging companies have offered some of the new features previously, none of the current companies have made the features available that seem to reach so many different segments or offered an “a la carte” menu of choices.

The idea of a second line offering and Call Filtering immediately are most appealing to me. I also like the fact that AT&T has become the first to offer some support of Personal Video Recorders, but wish they had said which ones right out of the box (i.e. Replay or TiVO.) This last fact allows them to compete with the MSO’s whose VoIP platform is PVR compliant, as long as it’s the cable operator’s PVR/VoD platform.

The company though has now started charging for personal conferencing, which was always one of my favorite features. Can’t have everything.

I plan on looking into the features more later and will likely provide more commentary, but now I have to take a call.
