Microsoft attempting VoIP land grab?

Microsoft attempting VoIP land grab? That seems to me to be the thrust of this blind line that got tossed into the ether this morning.

Everyone should know by now that Microsoft has SIP embedded in Windows XP since day one. They have sent their “visiting professors” to VoIP shows as far back as the late nineties, and in earlier renditions of Messenger you could make h.323 phone calls with partners, and others figured out how to hack into the SIP stack and make VoIP calls that were even better.

So, with Microsoft always being a second time around company, that likes to come in second then rally to win, I can’t help but think that this years CES show will have them out in force in the VoIP world.
