A great story by Paul who has been on this Port Blocking issue affecting Vonage sheds more light on the matter. That said, I think an ISP blocking a person’s use of VoIP goes beyond censorship, it affects the person’s safety and well being.

Here’s why. The fact that 911 is not available does not mean a speed dial button can’t be programed to dial the non emergency number of local emergency services offices. That alone is reason for the FCC to step in and stop the b.s. and mickey mouse antics of ISPs and carriers who thing that port blocking is to the benefit of anyone or any organization.
