When Old News Is Not News and Some Predictions

AOL VoIP

I guess I’m getting jadded but the AOL announcements today really weren’t news. With Level3 leaking all over the place the last few months, and with Beta Testers spilling the beans, AOL’s entry was more a non-event than an event. I guess I expected more from them and fully expect that over the next few weeks they will make a series of "add-on" announcements, because that’s their style.

Vonage

They announced 500,000 ACTIVATIONS. That’s not the same as subscribers. Their IP-PBX platform has been delayed, but my guess is that it will be out in April.

AT&T CallVantage

The outage last night will in my opinion result in AT&T relooking at some technology inside their network and making a correction very quickly. Why? They have too much to lose. Word is the Chairman of SBC is very high on CallVantage, as is Dave Dorman.
