This morning’s press release from Speakeasy said somethings and left things out.
Originally, their VoIP offering was going to be powered by Level3, in the announcement they indicate their own private network. While they may still be buying some pieces from Level3, my guess is they have a few partners when it comes to the network.
Second, they clearly want to separate themselves from all the rest of the VoIP players with their feature and benefits offerings (read the release) by saying this is a business product, designed for business; not the consumer product simply repackaged. That’s called depositioning of the competition and likely is a swipe at Vonage who is still working on getting their SOHO offer out the door.
For those of your who don’t know Speakeasy, they are the Seattle based DSL reseller, who is one of Covad’s biggest customers. Speakeasy opted to not use the Covad-GoBeam package and instead built their own VoIP solution to be better.
Let’s see what the business buyers say…
