With all the net catching on to AOL’s VoIP announcements this week, I overlooked the Verizon announcement about VoiceWing and a new lower cost pricing plan.
While nothing in the announcement is breakthrough, one has to realize that should Verizon be successful in the acquisition of MCI, then the VoIP market becomes much more of a strategy for them.
One has to continue to wonder what all this means for Delta Three. With SBC and Verizon as customers, and with both buyers getting lots of IP and VoIP in house intellectual capital and intellectual property, it is possible to presume that the agreements with those companies for VoIP related services may dry up.
One also has to wonder why Verizon let Genuity get purchased by Level3, when they had first option to buy it.
The world of M&A is very, very strange.
