Askin’s NCTA Discussion and His Comments Via Jeff

If you don’t know Jonathan Askin, the in house legal advisor at Pulver.com, you should.
He’s one of the brighter people in the industry. Give Jeff credit for letting Jonathan star on his own and also for taking some steps to clear up some inaccuracies in a LightReading account of what Jonathan said.
Jonathan’s comments about marketing are dead on. I couldn’t agree more and have on occasion recently said similar things to reporters who have interviewed me. His point about Nomadic Voice service is one that companies like AT&T, Vonage and Broadvoice are getting very well. That said, the need for better softphone clients, smaller Telephone adapters and more innovation in the area of presence are what will drive the market. That, and when the wireless companies decide they can be in the VoIP game the same way that Virgin is in the mobile telephony world, by becoming virtual phone companies.
