Triple Play All The Rage @ SuperComm

The idea of the triple play isn’t new to many readers, but that will be one of the key themes this year at SuperComm in Chicago.

More and more companies will be announcing new tools that speed the deployment or improve the quality and the ease of which it can be deployed. What is still intriguing to me is the way the companies that offer the 3play service market the opportunity, both to the telcos and cable operators, but more importantly articulate the value to consumers.

Price is not the sole criteria, and so far that and single billing seem to be the only key points. One key fact though from the cable industry seems to be the continual indication that they will move into some type of wireless offering. While it’s already known that Time Warner is working with SexTel (Sprint and Nextel) I actually wonder why the cable operators don’t think more about WiMax, at least for local access. If all the MSO’s work together they could create a solution that rivals the wireless guys.

I’d like to see more of the benefits and features brought forward, and expect to hear them here at SuperComm.
