Microsoft Woes In IPTV Continue

In what will go down as another “Microsoft doesn’t play well with friends” their IPTV moves may be about to unravel. Mark Evans has a short post that seems to ratify some early comments I made to Microsoft when I took a briefing with them back in June. At that time the blame was being laid on their hardware partners who were described as lagging in getting the technology out the door. I wasn’t sure then and remain unsure now.

Basically Microsoft made a huge splash about this at SuperComm and are now having issues getting the IPTV platform to get to their customers, in this case the carriers. I’m not surprised.

My guess is they will end up in a bidding war with Cisco and Intel for companies that have the technology that makes this stuff work.
