Level3 has been conducting consumer and business research to work with their partners (i.e. 8×8, AOL and others) in growing their customer bases. This announcement today is the first step in seeing that research turn into some sort of business strategy.
Basically Level3 will start to help identify and open vertical sales channels so their customers in those markets can adopt VoIP by co-marketing with their customer facing partners.
Announcements are one thing, closing deals is another. Now the ball falls to Packet8 to get their sales force up and running once the Level3 team opens the door.
