The most significant event of the year for the VoIP industry is Fall VON. The reasons are very plain if you understand business.
It’s called budget time. Every fall budgets for the following year tend either to be assembled or approved. For those with approved budgets VON provides buyers and sellers to close on deals that have been transpiring, bubbling under the radar and percolating to a rapid boil. For those with new products and services Fall VON provides the opportunity to evaluate new and established technology that could be put into the deployment roadmap in 2006.
I fully expect the big players here, and small upstarts also, to be making moves and announcements of deals that begin to change the VoIP landscape next week in Boston.
Look for Cisco, Level3, AOL, Nero and others to be in the news. The crowds at VON are expected to be larger than ever. The Blogger Panel is full with some of the most articulate writers and this Tuesday they get a chance to be heard, not only read.
