Price Waterhouse Coopers VC Event In Boston

You know a company is hot when the tax, audit and consulting companies come knocking even before you’ve been VC funded.

That seems to be the case with client iotum, who was selected by PWC (Price Waterhouse Coopers) to participate in a VC Export event in Boston that featured a series of Canadian startups. iotum co-founder and CEO Alec Saunders has a first person recount of the event which sounded like a killer event put on by non-event types. Maybe there’s a lesson to be learned about un-conferences here too.

For iotum the event marks one more notch on their climb. It all started with DEMO 2006 when they won a Demo God award, almost simultaneously with Om Malik nabbing them in the March issue of Business 2.0 where they were named one of the Next Net 25 (Note: Om interviewed them back in November for the story so give Om the props for picking right first) and then just after that the Branham 25, a recognition of top emerging tech companies in Canada.

What’s great about these four awards is that not one of them is one that can be bought. Sure DEMO has an entry fee, but getting in is a lot easier than winning and iotum keeps winning over the audience as a company that has something special.
