I’m a few days late on this one, but Tom Keating gets the props for breaking the story on Fonality buying Trixbox.
In a nutshell trixbox is “Asterisk based trixbox enables even the novice user to quickly set up a voice over IP phone system. trixbox can be configured to handle a single phone line for a home user, several lines for a small office, or several T1s for a million minute a month call center.”
Since Fonality works with businesses to get the onto the Asterisk platform. With the purchase of Trixbox Fonality can make it easier for companies to dump their PBX and switch over to Fonality’s hosted/managed version of the 2.0 VoIP solution that has all the features and none of the headaches of having to administer a VoIP server by now having even more features that can be added. With the purchase Fonality gets access to tons of developers who are developing apps for Asterisk, without having to be tied to Digium it appears
I see this as a very good move for Fonality as they continue to rip apart the phone market, signing up customers at a very rapid rate.
