Don’t be fooled. The Linksys iPhone effort is really a Trojan horse by Cisco to get more people hooked on VoIP.
Taking a page out of drug dealers and razor blade salesmen Linksys is using the low priced, highly lucrative consumer market to get more of the world hooked on VoIP.
To me this is a very, very smart ploy by Cisco to use their subsidiary to get people to grow up on VoIP. The whole thing helps to cell more core infrastructure that Cisco makes oodles of dollars on.
Now if they can only change the “empty packet dropping” protocol rumored to be found in routers which help save data costs. The concept, while great for data, just won’t fly with voice or video.
