In many ways the current patent enforcement actions remind me of the way states went after trading card companies using lottery laws. No harm was being done the way things were, but something had to be done.
I have to wonder if Vonage was ever really approached by Verizon for a royalty payment or if the court action was really part of a sophisticated game being played on VoIP companies, the same way the telcos pummeled the DSL companies into submission. If so, maybe some of the VoIP legal minds need to look to their pal RICO for help.
