It seems PCMag.com is hot to trot like I am when it comes to UMPCs. I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of my OQO2 and my Medion UMPC. Both were debuted to lots of hype in January at CES but now the second week of April, neither has cross my doorstep, but the OQO is promised within two weeks or so, but no word yet on the Medion that I paid for in February.
I fully expect the audio and video quality of these two devices to be stellar and while I’m a Mac guy, sometimes you need something smaller to tote along to certain places. The Medion features a video camera so that will be great for users of client SightSpeed and Skype Video. The OQO has EVDO Rev A from both Sprint and Verizon, but both block and restrict what you can do legally with their service so VoIP is not likely just yet.
As a reference point, my SONY Vaio 180 is rather useful for a lot of this, but a tad underpowered for too much multitasking. The newer devices promise better but until I get them in my hands, I won’t know for sure.
