Thomas Howe On VoxBone API

Calling it the “Telephony API of the Week,” uber VoIP applications developer, Thomas Howe has taken a hard look at API’s and has begun a weekly “pick of the week” concept highlighting things from a software applications developer’s perspective.

What he also does towards the end of the post is lean towards his winning ways at this past February’s Etel Mashup event when he writes:

Why would you, the application designer, wish to do this? I’ll give you one, and I’m sure you can fill in the rest: temporary numbers. Wouldn’t you like to have an anonymous phone number? Classified ads are a fantastic place to use a temporary number. With the Voxbone API, you can get a phone number, assign it to your cell phone using a SIP URI that maps into a direct line into a PSTN number, and off you go. Return it when you’re done. I’m going to take my number and point it to a Voxeo script.

This is all about the future of what makes VoIP companies really 2.0 not 1.0 replacements that I call Voice 1.5.
