Voicemail Gets Personal

Alex Quilici, who was the number two on the Voice team behind my good friend Ragui Kamel at AOL, pinged me recently about his newest venture, YouMail and their new voicemail greeting sharing platform.

Like ringtones and ringbacktones, YouMail’s personalization brings a 2.0 offering to the 1.0 mobile phone user’s world.

I view YouMail is a web 2.0 voice application that is focused on building and leveraging the community of users. What’s neat here is that YouMail is building its content base from their own user base so other users can draw from it. It is also very heavy on the concept of personalization. As such YouMail can offer services to anyone who wants to send their voice mail someplace other than to their mobile operators solution.
