For the next few weekends I’ll be at my wife’s Sacramento home so when I read that her broadband provider SureWest offers 50 meg symmetrical broadband service I offered to pay the difference from what we already had. I mean, I can’t not be one of the first bloggers to experience what all that speed means could
I?.
Basically, VoIP and Video are perfect. SureWest has almost zero latency, packet loss and jitter are almost non-existant on all the tests I’ve run. In a nutshell, I’m liking my all fiber diet in Sacramento.
Helene used to always ask “what will it take to get you up here more” as we tend to spend more time in San Diego….Well it looks like SureWest has made me think more about being up North. That and the two new additions to our family. Cosmo and Kramer, the twin kittens we adopted last week to keep Helene company while I’m traveling.
Now here’s the rub. Most web sites and services run on pipe much slower than 50 megs…and their interconnection hosts are also pokey. That means I’m now waiting in the fast lane instead of being stuck behind the traffic on the DSL and cable modem services that are slow in the last mile…
