The world is a very small place and thanks to the Internet has gotten even smaller. Friendships get developed and you stay in touch over great distances on a regular basis, or just know what’s going on thanks to all kinds of means that just a few years ago never were there.
When Marc suffered the heart attack it was from the blogosphere as I was on a plane when it happened. My heart immediately went out to Sue and his best friend of the last few years, Oliver Starr.
Oliver Starr’s almost daily updates have been how I’ve kept up on Marc’s status, that and some calls to him.
I first met Marc Orchant via his blog. Got to know him. Shared dinners and lunches with him and attended events with he and his wonderful wife Sue. Yesterday I saw his name on Skype, but I knew that was just hopefulness, not reality.
Marc won’t be blogging and he won’t be on Skype anymore. Marc passed away, having never regained consciousness from a massive heart attack he suffered a week ago. I found the sad news from a voice mail left by pal Alec Saunders when I woke up this morning in Paris.
The blogging world has lost someone special, but Sue and the kids have lost someone even more dear and more special to them.
