Did BT Not Fuse Well?

Dean Bubley asks what is up with BT’s Fusion, their Fixed Mobile Convergence play. Last night in Madrid I presented on the concept of Mobile VoIP, going over who the players are/were and may well be.

One company I failed to mention was BT, though thanks to some input from Dean and a cadre of friends I did mention T-Mobile @ HOME, Orange’s UNIK, clients Truphone, Mobivox, iotum, Voxalot VRINGO (the latter threas part of a social networking discussion/introduction), plus a few others including WiFi Mobile, Yeigo, Challenger, Agito (Enterprise space-disclaimer- I’m on their advisory board); Outsmart, Cicero, BlueSlice, BridgePort Networks, Packet 8’s Mobile Talk and GizmoProject/Gizmo5.

Bottom line was there is a large cross section looming of Mobile VoIP and Social Networks, and the concept of quick connecting off of a handset, is very much akin to what Skype is doing with 3 now. The big difference and growth will come when 3GVoIP is here on a mass market basis in my book.
