Broadband For The Private Jet Set

Avionics Web is reporting that VoIP and Fax service to the private aviation market is now possible via Rockwell Collins and ARINC’s satellite services.

This means working anywhere is easier. I for one think we will see a big explosion in the market for fly and work services in the air. Time is money and staying connected makes it easier to get work completed. For law firms, consulting groups and others with access to private jets it will reduce the cost of travel as their consultants and lawyers could be engaging with clients more of the time, than simply sitting on an plane flying.

The fractional ownership group that can maximize this opportunity and market it properly to the target groups who need to maximize time will win here. Private plane reduce travel time. There are almost no waits to go through security, airports can be used that are closer to where the business is, thus eliminating driving many miles to get somewhere. The flights leave when they have to, not on an airline schedule. When you start flying five or six people together during the business week, the cost of use starts to get pretty close to commercial costs. Now add in these “benefits” and see how the business market starts to look more and more at jet charter flights and fractional ownership options.
