It’s Not About Cheap..It’s About Being Better

The 2005 Level3 research showed me that consumers and business owners are not concerned about lower call pricing. So even with the price of calls dropping to almost zero and multiple options around to make “free calls” there’s more to VoIP than just that.

And as the team at ifByPhone (and agency client) said in their most recent post, there’s a lot more out there which can be done.

From the early days of this blog I’ve been extolling the power of applications. Companies like Ribbit, Broadsoft, Voxeo, ifByPhone are all making that happen. They’re not living in the cheap minutes space. So are clients VAPPs, iotum, Truphone, JunctionNetworks, PhoneFusion, PhoneGnome, SightSpeed as has former client GrandCentral proven. So have Skype, Digium and Fonality. All are saying “we have more than cheap minutes. We have services and features that can make your life easier.”

Look at RF.com, from pal Marcelo Rodriguez, of Voxilla fame. He took the iPhone, developed a simple app and made it SIP PBX capable months ago.

Like the ifByPhone post says “it’s time to stop silo-ing voice in something called the “phone system…” and time for others who need to connect to you to start using these new ideas to better how they do business.
