Signs of The Times-VoIP is Here

Yesterday I posted that agency client Truphone was covered by the New York Times.

A few weeks ago it was the Wall Street Journal.

This morning pal Dean Bubley tipped me off to a story in the London Times that ran with Truphone getting the top slot in coverage and high praise for their Apple iPhone client.

This is a sign of the times that Mobile VoIP is here and ready for prime time. It means the analysts are now embracing the concept and that the companies which have been pioneering the development are not crazy. It also means that all of us who have been part of the Mobile VoIP cheerleading squad aren’t nuts, but have really been just the tastemakers and the trendsetters, as well as the Beta testers.

Is it all perfect? No. Does it work better now than it did a few years back. Heck yes. Is it available in more flavors and working on more and more handsets as months go by. Yes.

Unfortunately, there’s likely a few writers and reviewers out there who want a perfect experience all the time. Sadly that won’t happen. There are still many hurdles, like bad bandwidth, poor in office connectivity from WiFi or even carrier interference. But, for those who have the right kind of Internet connectivity (i.e. business grade) they’ll find that Mobile VoIP works very well as does VoIP itself and that is what changes the game.
