Two very fine, all Cabernet Sauvignon wines we don’t easily find in the USA from the Torres wine group. There new wine bar at 78 Passeig de Gracia is a wonderful place to explore all their wines, including a very tasty Riesling and these very rare reds.
The wine on the left, is their 40 year special edition Gran Riserva Cabernet, while the bottle on the right is their Gran Riserva from 2000. The Gran Riserva from 2000 was far more open, opulent and alluring, while the special edition was closed, had a touch of heavy oak and was very slow to evolve in the glass. That said, both are loaded with fruit, it just took 30 minutes or so for the Special Edition to open up.
