Decouvertes Vins Rhone Here I Come

Every two years I travel to France to attend a key wine industry event, Decouvertes Vins Rhone. It's an event I have been attending as far back as my days as the Del Mar Time's Wine Critic, as it provided an advance look at what the recent vintages in the Rhone would be delivering well before the wines arrived in the USA. Somewhere along the way I became the "Ambassador" to the USA for The Grenache Association helping to extoll the virtues of what I like to call, "the other red grape."

Beyond the four days of tasting that stretches from Ampuis to Avignon, the most exciting times are not the day long tastings, but the evening parties called "OFFS". These events are where friendships new and old are started or renewed The Grenache Association's event, aptly named G-Night, is one not to miss. Held on Tuesday night, March 3rd in Avignon, the evening will be full of amazing Grenache based wines from not only the Rhone, or even France, but from all over.

Wednesday night March 4, offers to be an night of moving from place to place as there are at least four offs ranging from the Femmes Vig,nes Rhone, a night of Truffles and Vintages, fun with wines from Chateauneuf du Pape Rasteau and Tavel and the biodyamique tasting at BioTop Avignon.

See you at the OFFS?
