One of the most interesting things about the three Tavel Rose wines that Domaine de la Mordoree produces is how different each one is, and how from year to year, any one of them can be the winner. In my view back in 2013 the Les Vestides was the hands down winner, while in 2014 it was the La Dame Rousse. This year I think it's the La Reine des Bois. Of course the Vin de France entry, the La Remise de la Mordorée also puts up a strong fight, but that's not at all Tavel or even close.
The Les Vestides is from a newer vineyard, and has very different characteristics of terroir, as well as a totally different blend, as it's made from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, while the La Dame Rousse adds in Cinsualt, Clairette and Bourboulenc. The difference aside, the Les Vestides is more of a "I need food with this wine" while the La Dame Rousse is fine all by itself.
If you enjoy a very ripe fruit style Rose, the strawberry, blackberry, cherry and blueberry fruit flavors are all in the Les Vestides, while you also get some other fruit aromas of pink grapefruit and some light plums.
Once again, another 2015 Rose to the rescue…..
