I Have Seen The Next Star of the Rhone and his Name is Jerome Bressy

It's not often I taste wines and feel stopped dead in my tracks. I remember when I met Sylvain Fadat and had that feeling. The same with David Corey and the first taste of pal Cris Cherry's wines back in 2003. It's the feeling that that there's more here than you can see or taste. It's a look in the eye, a certain way they carry themselves, the way they talk.

I've seen that in sports with Wayne Gretzky, Ted Williams, Carm Collins, Larry Lloyd, and Bobby Clarke. It's swagger and charisma all rolled into one.

Jerome Bressy of Domaine Gourt de Mautens in Rasteau is the real deal. He makes two wines. A white and a red. Both are incredible. Perhaps the best new winemaker to me I have tasted. His tiny 20,000 bottle winery is in the AOC of Rasteau, but Bressy is making Châteauneuf du Pape level Rhone wines that defy description.

I went through his in barrel 2015, soon to be bottled 2014, in bottle 2013 and 2012 red, along with his 2014 white. I was stunned..These are what some would call ethereal wines…Mark my word. Jerome Bressy is a real superstar in the Rhone and one to not pass up when you see a bottle.
