Boxbe–I’ll Pass

Like Alec Saunders I took a look at BOXBE this morning after getting an invite from a friend. Unlike Alec, because I’m on a Mac it couldn’t spam my address book. Score one more for being on an Apple.

But Boxbe, sorry, I’ll pass. No Mac support and it doesn’t really want to work with a hosted domain at GMAIL.

So they get points for being well intended, but lose them all for being only half baked.

Sorry to hear you won’t be giving us a try, but you’re right. Currently, Boxbe works with Yahoo! Mail and Microsoft Outlook. We do intend to expand into domain level protection at some point.
As I mentioned back on Alec’s blog, when you sign up you are offered an opportunity to invite friends from your address book. You can choose to send email to no one if you like.
By inviting friends, you extend the list of people that can contact you to friends of friends. This “social white list” of senders has been our most popular feature as it can greatly expand your list of “good” email addresses and make it easier to use the service.
We hope that you will try us out when we release our domain level product.
    Cheers,
