Brightpoint adds 8×8

Continuing the “no loyalty” trend within the VoIP sector, distributor Brightpoint, the company behind the Skype store and driver of Vonage and vTech products sales just added 8×8 as a supplier.

What this means is Brightpoint learns the ropes from one, opens up accounts for two, and then brings in more. While on the surface this is good, one has to wonder how much of one company’s sales and promotional strategy ends up being replicated.

Sounds like the “Chinese Wall” argument may be at work here, but in my mind, that doesn’t fly. VoIP companies have other choices and need to explore them. Ingram Micro, Tech Data, Global Matrix all compete with BrightPoint.
