Light Reading today has back to back stories about companies doing the right thing and putting their money where their customer’s mouths have been going for years.
Nokia and AT&T are both making large seven figure contributions to the Red Cross, about the most legit place the money can go that insures the contributions really benefit the designated needy. AT&T is also matching employee contributions by up to $500,000 meaning that up to two million will find it’s way down to the Crescent City.
AT&T is also topping off their commitment with services based upon CallVantage. With all the “what can we do” it’s great to see someone taking lead and doing it. AT&T will work with FEMA to deploy IP based calling centers as directed by the Federal agency and will hang CallVantage off of the IP connections. This is the kind of thing that Jeff Pulver has been standing on his head saying is needed and I’m actually glad to see someone taking the lead with more than just lip service.
