As a VoIP advocate I also enjoy sober moments, just like as a Wine Drinker I enjoy my times away from the glass. That’s why I’m so happy to see Om take a shot at two research reports that he saw yesterday. I actually decided NOT To blog about one of them as I couldn’t find anyone to supply me with something that would put me into a place where I might be able to even remotely stop laughing.
VoIP is a long term play for telcos, especially in the USA. Right now the RBOCs still have Capex stuff to watch depreciate and until that happens you won’t see them running out and upgrading every darn CO to VoIP versus POTS. What you will see them do is go into new areas with new technology that makes it more efficient for them to operate telephone and next generation services at lower costs.
I find it humorous that some people think these companies exist to deploy new technology when in fact they are in the business of making money.
