Vonage is going portable via WiFi, something they have been talking about for months.
While I don’t see this as mobile, it sure means that one number can really go with you.
All of that aside, James’ speculation on Skype making an MVNO play could be interesting. Now imagine if every Skype hard-phone became a cell phone, with E-911 capability..Well the triangulation concept doesn’t really work some observers have said, and one other problem if they went the GPS in the phone route is that GPS doesn’t reveal floors of buildings. That means with office towers and apartment buildings E911 by GPS or Triangulation won’t be perfect.
