SunRocket Yells For Understanding

Mark Evans points out that SunRocket is trying to tell the world that while they know about VoIP, they don’t really get it.

That’s called marketing and I really don’t think any of the companies are really doing that well. AT&T is only doing PR at this point, having scaled back on advertising due to the SBC merger. Vonage spends like drunken sailors but really is only increasing their cost per acquisition to industry highs, BroadVoice and VoicePulse with better than Vonage service don’t spend to get customers other than online efforts; Packet8 they just spend.

Actually the companies doing the best marketing and gaining market share are the cable operators. They understand their audience and know how to reach them, using mostly their own media and some PR.
