Pal Dean Bubley is one of the more pragmatic analysts out there in the wireless world and today he posts his predictions, winners and losers for 2012. If you look at it and read through it you'll find a tone of frustration, dismay and depression, none his own, but of the industry. With so much "advancement" Bubley has pretty much nailed the fact that the telcos sit in a world of fear, self imposed isolation a lack of willingness to accept the reality that's hitting them in the face. That reality is all about the user really needing and wanting to be in control.
New devices, technology, apps and services are all about the "I" generation and right now the telcos and mobile operations are still in the "our" mode, not the "you" world.
Give Dean's post a read.
