In what has to be a true communications issue, only 23 percent of Canadiens admit to knowing about VoIP according to a newly released survey.
What this means is that while the technical issues surrounding Voice over IP have been for the most part solved, the issues surrounding how you inform, educate, advise and deploy the service is still a challenge for most of the companies selling to the end users.
I don’t see why people have to “know” about VoIP. Soon enough all our phone service will be VoIP and we probably won’t know about it, just as most people have no idea that right now most of their long distance IS already VoIP.
I’d love to see a survey about “99% canadians have no idea they use CDMA/GPRS/whatever on their mobile phone” and the great social implications. 😉
The best technologies go mostly unnoticed because they’re implemented well.
