GeekZone reports that SKYPE has released a new client that is PSTN termination enabled for SKYPE out. Unbound Spiral digs deeper and provides some really insightful analysis on rates and more.
I think a marriage between SIPphone and Skype would really set the telephony market on it’s end. Then again, I also think that the looming giant in IP based telephony is Microsoft.
Why? Well, SIP is already built into Windows XP. It works very well with Windows Messenger and has for a few years. Also, Microsoft is never first in. They wait, then wade in like a battleship. Imagine a Microsoft and Cisco powered phone service. Scary.
