Vonage Makes Local Calling Easier

Vonage has done something that is so simple, yet so needed.

For many years here in the USA to call your neighbor you dial seven digits (unless you have them on speed dial). Along came VoIP and every call became a 1 plus 10 digit call, across the USA or down the block.

No more. As of today’s announcement, which is not yet on the web site, will let their subscribers make local calls the old fashioned way. Vonage is “offering its subscribers seven digit dialing within the same area code for local calls in the U.S. and Canada. For example, customers in New York City’s (212) area code can now dial xxx-xxxx, instead of 1-(212)-xxx-xxxx.”

Hail Vonage for doing something that is so simple, yet so needed. Watch other carriers duplicate this service.
