Cox and Time Warner Merge Ad Sales In San Diego

Yesterday Cox Communications announced the creation of an ad sales interconnect in San Diego with Time Warner Cable.

What they didn’t announce is that Time Warner Cable late last week reportedly informed their San Diego cable ad sales staff that they were no longer needed and was shutting down the entire ad sales operation in San Diego, and supposidly giving pink slips out.

According to a Time Warner spokesperson in their NYC headquaters 20 executives were let go, of which some may have been offered positions in other markets. Of the 20 the TWC spokesperson said there are about ten openings in the new combined entity which Cox will manage, and its up to Cox to decide who, if any they plan on hiring. Of the ten positions available, three are expected to be Account Executives. Those openings go into effect the week of August 17 with interviews set for the end of the week.

While all of this effects only a small number of employees today, it appears more to be a harbinger of things come. The end of Time Warner Cable as we know it as the bankers and accountants figure out how to further slice, dice, and combine the cable companies in the San Diego area and maybe all across the USA. Thanks AOL.

  1. I just want you all to know about the sorry service we are getting at my house. Video on demand has not worked since we got your service and the service keeps getting worse. They make appts without letting the customer know. They dont even give you a call that they arent going to make they appt. They set up and keep you waiting all day long.
