BT’s 21st Century Network

Our folks in the UK are seeing rapid action from BT when it comes to VoIP. Their new 21st century network is geared all around IP but this report brings up a very valid point about IP addressing, or the looming shortage until IPv6 is fully rolled out.

What the story misses is the key point about how IP phones can be called. LibreTel is one example, but SIP gateways can easily convert a PSTN number and map it to a SIP endpoint. I think the writer needs a lesson or two on IP telephony and that BT needs to do a better job of telling the basics.
